Patients with Psychiatric Diagnoses Test Streaming Art in Sensory Room
Patients with psychiatric diagnoses have shown significant improvement in mental recovery after experiencing ArtPlayer's streaming art service in the sensory room at Psychiatric Center Glostrup.
ArtPlayer Tested by 14 Psychiatric Patients
Fourteen patients over the age of 18, each with one or more psychiatric diagnoses, tested ArtPlayer's mood-calming art service on a large screen in the sensory room at Psychiatric Center Glostrup, located in Denmark's Capital Region. The aim was to evaluate if ArtPlayer could enhance peace and mental well-being in the center's sensory room.
Study on ArtPlayer’s Impact on Mental Recovery
The quantitative study measured patients' mental recovery before and after using ArtPlayer in the sensory room. Results showed an improvement in mental well-being, with scores rising from an average of 5.5 to 7.14 on a 0-10 scale after just 30 minutes of exposure to ArtPlayer’s art streaming.
Patient Feedback on ArtPlayer
Twelve out of the 14 patients found ArtPlayer to be a beneficial addition to the sensory room. The streaming service helped them feel calmer, more relaxed, and reflective, confirming its positive impact on their experience.
Positive Response from Staff
Ditte Marie Hellberg, Occupational Therapist at Psychiatric Center Glostrup, remarked on the findings: “When I see the charts of the results from our ArtPlayer patient monitoring, I think it's quite positive, and I believe it could be a valuable addition to the center's sensory room.”
ArtPlayer’s Potential in Healthcare
Morten Kryger, Managing Director of ArtPlayer, added: “The positive calming effects of using ArtPlayer in healthcare environments are not new to us. We’ve seen it reduce perceived waiting time and restlessness in emergency departments. In mental health services, using ArtPlayer for patients with psychiatric diagnoses could offer cost-saving alternatives to expensive calming medications.”
