Finnish Nursing Home Ruskatalot Tests ArtPlayer
The ArtPlayer service was tested at the Ruskatalojen palveluyhdistys ry, which offers 24-hour serviced housing for the elderly, in collaboration with Satakunta Testbed in Finland.
Aim and objectives
The purpose of the testing was to collect user experiences on the use and contents of the ArtPlayer product as part of supporting the meaningful everyday life of the elderly in nursing homes.
The purpose was to map e.g.
• The suitability of the product for individually supporting the everyday life of the elderly (calming, refreshing, increasing activity, etc.)
• The suitability of the product for supporting the everyday life of the elderly in group activities (calming, supporting social interactions, etc.)
• The suitability of the product as part of nursing processes that support meaningful everyday life in nursing homes.
• Usability and usefulness of the product in nursing homes.
Summary of test
• Presentations work well on mobile, tablet and TV
• The presentations had a relaxing effect and provided an opportunity to get away from everyday life
• ArtPlayer offers a good opportunity to bring something new and interesting into the daily lives of older people
• Participants had the opportunity to discover something new and enjoy masterpieces of world art
• New topics of discussion and memories were created during the test
• The functionality also includes useful additional information, such as a time and text field
• ArtPlayer is an excellent alternative to a traditional TV or whiteboard
• As a conclusion of the art group space testing, the instructor felt that the ArtPlayer works rather well for functional groups
• Testing opened up new possibilities for communication with residents and provided residents and their relatives with a new perspective on the process of caring for older people
